Russia plans bilateral talks with states in N. Korea confab '03/8/7

TOKYO, Aug. 7 Kyodo - Russia will hold bilateral talks with the five other countries that will participate in negotiations about North Korea's nuclear weapons program, according to the Voice of Russia radio monitored Wednesday by Radiopress in Tokyo.

According to the report, Dmitry Rogozin, chairman of the international affairs committee of the State Duma, the lower house of the Federal Assembly, said a series of bilateral talks will be held with the primary aim of preventing North Korea from developing nuclear weapons.

North Korea has agreed to participate in talks with China, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the United States to discuss its nuclear arms development program.
