(August 2, 1999, The Chugoku Shimbun) "Booklists of the A-bomb victims", which will lead to bring the news of the missing victims of the atomic bombing have been open to the public in the basement of the A-bomb Memorial Museum located in Naka-ward, Hiroshima. It has been scheduled to continue until August 6, 1999. The booklists consist of the series of 83 autopsy reports in total, which were found at the Hiroshima East Police Station in 1968. The names and addresses of 23,039 victims and the conditions at the time of the bombing were described in the booklists. With a kind thought, the elders are now able to view the index which links with names, ages and addresses of the victims, while remaining in the sitting position. The identification/registration of missing/late victims and the booklists of unidentified A-bomb victims being restored in the charnel house located in the city's Peace Memorial Park have also been open to the public on the same day in the same venue. Mr. Kunizo Takekiyo (age 80) of the resident of Minami-ward, Mukainada, who came to the museum to look for the name of his younger sister in low said, "I came here last year, too. Although I know her name won't be found in the booklists, I just can't help myself to check with my eyesc" He was at a loss for words. |
